The Art of Creative Translation
Transcreation | VO Directing
As a creative writer and author, I use my expertise beyond translation and adapt technical or business content to recreate content that appeals to, engages with, and sells products and services to Brazilian Portuguese audiences.
Transcreation means way more than content localisation – While the latter’s primary focus is to ensure that the proper locale terminology is applied accurately and consistently, transcreating a copy means focusing on the essential message first and delivering target content that sounds like it was initially drafted in the target language.
When adapting content to engage audiences, especially when the products and services involve technical information, the main goal is to draft content that audiences trust because it sounds ‘natural’ and ‘authentic’ while retaining the core message and purpose.
Transcreation professionals are often not linguists but trained copywriters with deep knowledge of their native language. They master the art of copywriting with talent and creativity. They are creative and can distinguish between the correct copy and one that sells.
Creative insight is the key, combined with hands-on experience, research, and language skills. That formula ultimately differentiates between a copy that audiences can understand and one that compels and motivates them to action.
